Clowning Around & Around & Around

The Big Apple Circus visited a small Montana town. After the show, the performers came out to mingle. A man asked a clown, "Where are you headed?"

"Why ask where I am going if you don't know where I am from?" said the clown.

"Where're you from?" said the man.

"I'm from my mother and God," said the clown.

"From your mother and God," said the man.

Realizing the man was upset, the clown said, "I'd have given you a different answer if you had asked me, ‘Where do you live?’ Go ahead, ask me."

"Okay," said the man, "where do you live?"

"I live right here," the clown said, tapping his chest. "If I wasn't living in here, I wouldn't be anywhere. Ah, you're getting frustrated with me. Why don't you ask me where my home is? Go ahead, ask me."

"Where's your home?" said the man.

"My home is where my heart is," said the clown.

"Where is your heart?" said the man.

"My heart leads to where I am going," said the clown.

"So, we're back at the beginning,” the man said. "I’ll ask again. Where are you going?"

With a twinkle in his eye, the crown replied, "I'm going towards where I've come from."

Where do you think the clown was going?

Let's Pray: Dear God, where are we from? Where are we going? To Heaven, our original Home, we hope; take us there. Amen.

Today's Thought Is from the Gospel of Thomas: Our beginning is our end.

18. The disciples said to Jesus, "Tell us, how will our end come?" Jesus said, "Have you found the beginning, then, that you are looking for the end? You see, the end will be where the beginning is."
