Title: A Prayer for the Warrior
Date: January 15, 2013
A prayer for the warrior young and old; a prayer for lovers of warriors, including every form of love; a prayer for warriors at arms and for warriors at home who live and carry the wounds of war; a prayer for you; hear these ancient words prayed from our Book of Psalms:
"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff – they comfort me."
"The Lord is my strength and shield; in him my heart trusts; The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?"
"The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When evildoers assail me to devour my flesh— my adversaries and foes— they shall stumble and fall. Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war rise up against me, yet I will be confident… For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will set me high on a rock. Now my head is lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord…"
Let’s Pray: Dear God, keep safe and heal the hearts, minds and bodies of all who serve or served, and for those who love them, let us trust in You. Amen.
A Thought: I fear no evil since You are with me.
